Sometimes you just need something funny during a busy month. So I hopped on Amazon Prime Video, scrolled through the options for our November Syllabus, and landed on Bad Grandmas. The title alone didn’t have me shouting “yes”—but when I watched the trailer featuring Florence Henderson (RIP) and Pam Grier, along with Judge Reinhold… I was like — Biiitch, WHAT!?

Bad Grandmas: Cozy Chaos, Prime Laughs, and FW26 Energy
Bad Grandmas is the kind of breezy pool-deck flick you throw on while lounging or folding laundry. The plot is basically: four grandmas living their mellow “grandma-ing” lives until Mimi (Florence Henderson) finds out her daughter has died—and her shady son-in-law Jim is trying to evict her from her home. (Yes, that’s the drama we’re dealing with here.)
Mimi confronts Jim, things escalate, Jim accidentally “shoots” himself in the fracas, and from there, the four geriatric heroines shift into covert-ops mode—disposing of evidence, covering tracks, and trying to stay ahead of the con-man partner (Reinhold) who shows up asking questions.
There’s a line from Mimi that sums up the tone: “This was natural — a bullet entered his chest and he naturally died.” Classic grandma humor turned criminal. The pace builds nicely for what it is, and while critics weren’t exactly rushing to hand out Oscars (many called it “flat” or “forced”), it’s still an entertaining ride.
I’ll keep it real: if you’re expecting full-on comedy gold, you might not find it. But for Dayclub SEAZN’s leisure lifestyle — when the vibe is “my pool deck, my playlist, my escape” — this film hits the brief. It’s got recognizable faces, that wild-for-grandma energy, and enough laughs to pair perfectly with a spiked cider or something icy. It’s family-friendly enough to keep on in the background while prepping Thanksgiving dinner (which, BTW, is just two weeks away).
