Leg Day + Mental Clarity: Morning Prayers in Silence @ the Iron Temple

Yesterday morning at Planet Phatness (aka Planet Fitness), the gods smiled upon me—no gotdamnt blaring music over the sound system. It was pure bliss. For once, I could actually hear my breath work as I expelled the demons during my Leg Day Morning Prayers to the All-Spotter in the sky. Instead of cranking up one of my playlists to drown out the usual chaos, I soaked in a subliminal track by High Frequency Guru. Let me tell you—it was exactly what I needed.

Silence allowed me to multitask. My mind was clear, my focus sharp, and my energy perfectly aligned. I’ve been in tune with myself lately, but today’s quiet took that alignment to another level. If only the Iron Temple were this serene all the time. (I put in a request at the Front Desk upon my exit.)

PR Alert: 335 lbs for the Win

Let’s talk about victories. Today, I hit a new personal record for hip thrusts: 335 lbs. for 3×8 reps. That’s a total of 24 reps, folks. Naturally, I followed up with 330 lbs for 3×8, because that’s just how I roll. My glutes, quads, hammies, and abductors got the full royal treatment with compound movements, but this PR was the crown jewel of my Morning Prayers.

Admittedly, I had to tweak the Strong Lifts 5×5 method to fit my needs, switching to 3×8 for strength-building and endurance. It’s not just about lifting heavy—it’s about lifting smart and challenging yourself in new ways.

Silence is Golden

If your Iron Temple doesn’t blast music over the sound system, consider yourself blessed. Everyone has earbuds in anyway, so why the unnecessary noise? (I’m talking to the gym owners.)
