Peppermint Glow: Trader Joe’s Candy Cane Body Butter Review

I picked up the Trader Joe’s Shimmering Candy Cane Body Butter, and yeah… it’s a viiibe. The scent is straight-up nostalgic in the best way. It smells exactly like those hard peppermint candies wrapped in clear plastic that instantly take over your senses the second you pop one in your mouth. That exact smell and cool peppermint energy, but softened for skin. It’s not overpowering, not headache-y, just clean, minty, and fresh in a “people will ask what you’re wearing” kind of way.

Texture-wise, this is not the same thick formula as Trader Joe’s classic coconut body butter. It’s lighter, smoother, and melts in fast without feeling greasy. The shimmer is sneaky—you won’t even clock it indoors at all, but step outside and suddenly your skin has this soft glow that catches the light just enough. Not loud. Not glittery. Just subtle, glossy, pool-deck-approved skin (in the middle of winter) that smells like peppermint candy all day long.

Also worth noting: this one is limited edition, and it’s the first time I’ve ever seen it at Trader Joe’s—so naturally, I grabbed two. At $6 each, it’s the same price as their classic coconut body butter, which makes this an easy yes if you’re in a peppermint-y mood.
