Some of the best underground hip-hop artists on Spotify are the ones the algorithm still hasn’t figured out yet — and Big Kev sits at the top of the list.
I landed on his music after seeing Half-Centric post one of his tracks on IG, and within maybe thirty seconds, I already knew I was about to disappear down a Spotify rabbit hole because the vibe was way too fucking smooth not to.
The first project I played was How Did We Get Here? and honestly, it’s the soundtrack to one of those nights where the drinks are cold, the lighting is low, and nobody’s in a rush to be anywhere. Just effortless chill energy from start to finish.

Calm, confident, smooth, and effortlessly cool.
So naturally I checked out the rest of Big Kev’s Spotify profile expecting Spotify to at least pretend they know what they’re doing. Instead? No bio. No curated “This Is Big Kev” playlist. Meanwhile this man is sitting at 96 monthly listeners when the music sounds like it should already be living inside everybody’s late-night summer playlist rotation.
But Dayclub SEAZN already knows how this goes with artists who have real aura. The mainstream always catches up late.
Remember when I first wrote about Half-Centric before Spotify finally gave him playlist recognition? Same energy. At this point, I’m treating this less like music commentary and more like manifestation. Around here, we move like the recognition already exists before the numbers do. Self-concept first. Validation later.
Big Kev Sounds Like After-Hours
The best way I can describe Big Kev’s sound? Smooth, sexy, private.
His music has that laid-back lounge energy where nothing feels forced, but somehow every beat still pulls you in. It sounds like rooftop drinks, late-night drives, dim lighting, speakeasies, and sitting beside somebody whose energy actually matches yours for once.
Big Kev’s whole sound feels personal. The second you press play, it feels like stepping into his atmosphere one-on-one. Even the cover art for Big Kev’s Special: Live in Las Vegas looks exactly how the music feels — low lighting, smooth conversations, strong drinks, and nobody checking the time.
That’s what makes his music hit. It’s calm without being boring. He’s lowkey seductive without trying too hard. The kind of music that changes the atmosphere the second it starts playing.

I Had To Make A “Big Kev and Chill” Playlist
After listening to the EP, I immediately added Big Kev’s entire discography into a playlist, which is just over two hours long. But that’s how I listen to artists when I’m really vibing with them. I immerse myself in it. I need to hear the flow, the consistency, the creativity, the overall energy. I want to know what kind of atmosphere they naturally create through their music.
After that, I narrowed everything down into my personal curated playlist I called Big Kev and Chill. Fifty-three minutes of smooth late-night energy that works whether you’re driving around, poolside after dark, posted up with your lover, or just vibing solo. I embedded the playlist below, but you can also find Big Kev and Chill directly on Spotify if you want to save it for your next nighttime vibe session.
And this is exactly why I’m big on curating your environment — especially your playlists. Music shifts your vibration, your confidence, your mindset…all of it. If the energy around you feels calm, magnetic, smooth, and self-assured, eventually you start embodying that too. Very law of assumption coded. Very “protect your vibe at all costs.”

Favorite Tracks Right Now
Standout tracks for me right now are No Rush, Start The Show, There She Goes, and Westside Party. Every song carries that same smooth, late-night energy, but Start The Show especially stood out because Big Kev sampled Everybody Loves the Sunshine by Roy Ayers Ubiquity — and somehow actually did the sample justice.
The last artist who pulled that off for me was MJB with My Life back in ’94. So yeah…Big Kev, Chef’s 💋 to you, bro.

Go follow Big Kev on Spotify and IG too because this type of smooth energy deserves more attention. Period.
Dayclub SEAZN will always support artists creating with real aura, creativity, and intention — especially the ones the algorithm still hasn’t caught up with yet.
